That can't be original red, looks off
Re: BAT Zinno 535is
Truth! Makes you wonder what’s hiding beneath all that shine
It’s BAT tho, so I’m sure someone will throw 20 grand at it.

Re: BAT Zinno 535is
Wonder what happened to the "is" M-sport steering wheel?
Re: BAT Zinno 535is
That's odd. I've owned three 535is cars, 2 x 1988 and currently 1 x 1987. They all came with them.
Since I was selling new BMWs back then (and now) I wish I could remember if they all did but I do not remember an option for it.

Re: BAT Zinno 535is
Looks to have decent bones but will need quite a bit of sorting and base lining. I’m sure someone will pay up based upon the odometer reading and not consider the fundamentals and servicing needs. Just silly the premium buyers there apply to lower mileage cars.
I’m sure it will hammer at 2x the price of a car with double the miles in much better shape.

Re: BAT Zinno 535is
The pictured steering wheel is the same that is in my '87 535is.
Re: BAT Zinno 535is
I wonder about the price of the 535is I'm building out now, repainted, restored seats, restored suspension, MM motor etc.
If it wasn't going to be my DD I'd be tempted to throw it on BAT and see what happens

Re: BAT Zinno 535is
Yeah found that out after I posted when I searched for examples of “cinnabar red”.austin8753 wrote: ↑Jan 21, 2022 5:47 PMuh...... "Zinnoberrot", in German, translates to "Cinnabar Red", in English. FWIW
Re: BAT Zinno 535is
That's the wheel on my '85 535i, but all three of my 535is have had the M-sport wheel. Anyone have an original Monroney label that shows the M-sport wheel as an option? I don't remember there being any option for steering wheel choices. I'm confused!
Re: BAT Zinno 535is
so I went through the first page of sold 535is' on BaT.
16 Standard
13 Mtech I
2 Mtech II
2 Other
Many of the ones with Mtech I had other modifications as well. Guessing it was a popular mod in the day.

Re: BAT Zinno 535is
Interesting. I had thought the MTech was standard.
Standard is still a nice wheel. MTech is just a lot nicer.

Re: BAT Zinno 535is
you could have optioned an M-Tech 1 wheel on any E24, E28 or E30, when they were new, as it was available for purchase at the parts counter. they did not come standard on the 535is. they simply got the "sport" steering wheel, just like any other 535i sold in North America.
the M-Tech 1 wheel did come as standard equipment on the E28 M5 and E30 M3, though.

Re: BAT Zinno 535is
I'll have to dig out the old catalogs. I think even my 325is demo had the M-tech wheel from the factory.

One of the comments from the seller:
"I had a euro 323 -6cyl Euro Car, it was a rocket, I went off a cliff outside Bakersfeild California in it"
I'd like to know the story about that.

Sold for $25,785.

<asbestos underwear on>
I cannot believe anyone was daff enough to spend more than $25k for this car.
It was FILTHY. The seller (I do not know them; hope they're not here) took strategic photos of the trunk to hide the rot around the trunk seal, the destroyed trunk seal, the area under the carpet where it meets the back of the trunk, and the likely rot in the trunk lid as well.
The front fenders, where the VINs are was also filthy, with some rust showing.
That driver's seat was absolutely disgusting. No A/C. Muffler needs replacement. Radio is crap.
Did anyone actually read that work receipt (2 images)? The people who touched the car were absolute crooks. And they didn't have a clue what they were doing. They overcharged for some parts. And replacing a fuel pump for $101 (for the part)? That must be an absolute piece of noisy crap! And $26 for a front brake hose (x2)?? The factory part is $80+.
I cannot believe this particular car bid up to $25k. I need to call my insurance agent this week. My car -- obviously not a 535is -- is SO much cleaner and sorted than this thing. Holy crap. I'm blown away. Enjoy your Sunday.

I'm usually shocked at the prices on BAT but this is unbelievable. Good news for my 535is I suppose.garageboy wrote: ↑Jan 23, 2022 3:21 PM <asbestos underwear on>
