New shift knob question
New shift knob question
Does anyone know if there is a leather "mushroom version" gearknob available somewhere? There is an advertiser on Ebay that sells beautiful ones. Anyone experience with these shift knobs?
Re: New shift knob question
Do you mean this one? (BMW p/n 25111203074)

Re: New shift knob question
difference seems to be the emblem on the top of the shift knob. The round ones from earlier E28, not E34 oval are available if you find a shift knob you can change the emblem.
Re: New shift knob question
I can't find them. BMW only sells the oval of the later models as in the E34.

Unfortunately. Had already looked.

Those are round emblem part numbers. Don't know if they will ship an oval instead. Maybe contact them before purchase.
I kinda thought the round ones were getting scarce. Maybe contact a dealer and see if there is one at some dealership stored for years on the shelf...need a helpful parts guy to do that search for you.

Re: New shift knob question
I'll just call later. For me it is about the gear knob itself and not about the logo.

Re: New shift knob question
probably gonna need to find a nice used one or a bad used one and have it recovered as the replacement part is the anatomical shift knob from the later vehicles and these use the oval emblem.
Re: New shift knob question
I have the original round version in my car. Just be afraid that no one can dress it as beautifully as the original. I just bought the one from the photo I posted. I'm curious what it looks like in real life.

Do you have a picture from it? You sell it?
Re: New shift knob question
Hard to find, but there’s a couple sellers on eBay that have them.
They’re overseas, though.
I got one from the seller in Lithuania.
It’s perfect, brand new original BMW leather mushroom knob.
Around $85.
Only downside is it took a little more than a month to get to the US.

That's right. I ordered 1. Indeed, get it in a month. I live in the Netherlands. I am really curious what it will look like in real life. Can you send me a photo ?
Re: New shift knob question
I could send you a picture, but it looks exactly like your picture in the third post above.
It’s a factory knob, it’s nice, I’m very happy with it.
Let me know where to send pictures if you’d like it Anyway. The pictures won’t be as good as the one you posted, though! That’s a very accurate representation.
My mom was born in Holland and lived there until she was a teenager.
