Damage on the Driver Side Door. Hard to get the ripple/dent in the sheet metal.

Image

Damage to the Passenger side door. Same comment; there is a wrinkle, but is slight enough in this light and angle not to show up.

nderbody pictures. He's not a prom king. For the record, the only underbody work I have done on the car is the soft fuel lines, filter, and external fuel pump.

My history of the car can be found here:

viewtopic.php?f=7&t=140819

I purchased it in October of 2014, the prior owner was a college student that had been given the car by her Grandfather, the original owner. I fixed the problem with the battery tray (the battery was rusted down, the tray was in bad shape and the transmission cooler lines needed replacement b/c of the rust). The work was professionally done. If you run a carfax you will find a record of a collision in the early 90's. I believe that the original owner rear-ended someone as both front fenders are factory replacements. Whomever did the work seemed to know what they were doing and re-sprayed the entire car. I wanted that to be right up front and be honest about it. All of the door skins also have some denting in them; I believe that the college student must have experienced the ice storm we had in the area the year before I bought it, was driving a crowd, and the all beat on the skins in order to get the doors open. I can get photos if interested as it is a "10 feet away" sort of issue.

I let the car sit for about two years, then did the following work:

Rebuilt Injectors, MPEH
Replaced the tires, Toyo with a 90 MPH speed rating, nothing special, but in good shape.
Distributor and plug wires.
Spark Plugs
Coil
Timing Belt
Water Pump
Fan Clutch
Thermostat
Belts, Power Steering, AC, and alternator.
Voltage Regulator
Valve Adjustment
All new Cooling system hoses.
Intake Manifold removed, hot tanked, re-installed.
New "Bitch Tube" and spring.
Fuel Pump(s) (yes, I bought 2, in retrospect I would have done one in tank as covered by the board)
All Soft hoses for fuel delivery, all done with high pressure.
Oil pan removed and re-painted (Had some scrapes and awful rust)
Transmission filter and fluid change.
New Coolant Tank. (to pass muster with CEK, it seems he always points out the baby-shit brown ones)
Dyed the (blue) seats.
Rear Tank expansion hoses replaced.
OEM exhaust from the cat back.
Taillight improvement from "mo betta, mo brighter"

Mileage is currently 94k and change.

What the car needs:
1. An audio head unit. The original is there, I have the code, but the unit will not respond to it.
2. Re-wiring the window washer pump.

Everything else on the car works as it should.

I am asking $4500 OBO. Full price offer will get the parts hoard shown in the picture below.

Yes, the car is still up for sale. I have been under the weather and not monitoring this. If there are questions, let me know. My apologies for not responding sooner.

Thanks for responding, sorry to hear you were not feeling well, I can see damage as you mentioned on the drivers door, how bad are the dents, you said all doors, is the drivers door the worst?
How is the interior, do you have and pictures, what color, what kind of condition?

The damage on the drivers door is the worst, I will post close up pictures. The interior is Pacific Blue Leather, again, I need to post pics later today. The condition is good, I re-dyed them, no rips or tears, all seat function works, door cards are clean. Let me get the camera out and get you what you seek.

Thanks;

Don.

Pictures are up. I need to take a look at some of the cars and how they are presented on BringATrailer and see what the common angles are. My daughter is a pretty good photographer, but she was busy so I took them. If there is a special angle or spot I missed (the underside is coming), let me know.

The car sold to the first person to come and actually look at it for full price. The transaction took about 20 minutes; best car sale I have ever had by far.

Congrats! Happy you had a good experiences selling Otto, and thank you for your helpful reply to my PM last week.

I hope the car went to a great home. Was hoping that it might be my home, but knew that being so far away was going to make it tough to do a deal, especially during Covid.

Again, congrats, nice to see a happy ending for a good car being sold by a knowledgeable enthusiast.

Thanks Bob. I would have to give any credit for the car's quality to the board. I knew nothing about these cars before coming here and have been coached through all the adventures by board members. I am going to miss having an e28, but life circumstances dictate me passing the car on. The sale was more fun than I ever thought it would be; I got to talk to a number of enthusiast, including yourself, about car details. I never once felt that anyone was "having me on" or chipping me.

Congrats on the sale. The 12 year old in me is praying that BoogerEater was the victorious buyer so we can all tell him he picked a good one.

No, no picking by BoogerEater. It was purchased by a gentleman from Eugene Oregon, not on the board. This guy told me he buys cars, drives them for two years, then buys another and sells them. He buys low budget classics and the last car was a 635. He had no problem stepping down in horsepower, said he is just a car nut.
