while the shifter lined up nicely i still had to do some cutting to get the transmission to sit up high enough where its supposed to with my mounts.

the cnc hydraulic slave that i bought and planned on using was never going to fit in the trans tunnel and the shifter fork wasnt going to fit without trimming it and beating the tunnel. i opted to purchase one of these from summit racing which is only a short 45 minute drive from me.

http://www.jegs.com/i/RAM-Clutches/798/ ... oreDetails

talked to a guy who is currently running one in his e30 using the stock master cylinder to actuate it. just need to adapt the fittings and it will be good to go. deleting the clutch fork and no more tunnel beating necessary.

plan is to install the TOB tonight then i can move forward plugging everything in and getting this thing fired up soon.

Something.....looks.....familiar..... :D

It's interesting watching someone else face the same engineering challenges as I did with my swap and compare solutions. Welcome to E28/SBF club!

Now I've got to decide if I'm selling my 5.0L / T5 "swap kit" (to put in the 450+ HP iron 6.0L LSx I just finished) or sell the E28 as is and build a LSx E39.

Build looks solid, good luck getting her finished up!

haha yeah there are many challenges with this, ive learned a lot through this project already and you've been a big help :D

I've had a fair amount of people ask me questions about this swap on instagram so I think if you found someone close enough to you that you wouldnt have much of a problem selling your drivetrain.

all in all it hasnt been a bad swap. it fits in our cars' bays better than it does in e30s imo. no oil pan mods. exhaust might be ehh but im not even too concerned with having an exhaust that goes to the back of the car.

if i sell my wheels and buy an on3 turbo kit I will probably, for the now I probably will be doing open headers and just route them under the valance in front of the wheels

Maybe I can help with that as I may be selling my 5.0L swap drivetrain as a kit....

Congrats to BDKawey for the first start up!

thank you sir. progress has been at a complete halt since valentines day when the daily threw a CEL for advance timing caused by low oil pressure, been chasing that since then since its un drivable in its condition.

its now back on the road with a freshly rebuilt turbo and progress on the e28 will continue this week with the installation of the transmission and making tranny mounts.

got my transmission in over the weekend.

Thursday i started the car just for the hell of it, yesterday i tried to start the car and it didnt seem to have enough juice to keep cranking, it would only crank for a second then id get nothing. for a little bit my ignition coil was clicking like crazy then it stopped, weird?

since Thursday all i did was remove the cruise control module/obc computer since im not using cruise control, i didint realize it was the obc computer at the time. i plugged it back in and it still wont fire. thinking maybe i messed up some wire down there.

my locks are having a mind of their own as well locking and unlocking whenever. thought id be safe from these stupid german electrical issues but i suppose not

anyone got any ideas? ill start poking around later this week with the dmm

Either the harness has been wired wrong, fues box has a few bad contacts or you have a short somewhere....

Start with what you have wired yourself. Then check for known chasis electrical glitches.

the car had been running fine up to that point, im not running a neutral safety switch or a clutch safety switch, and it still started. the motor or computer wouldnt know that theres now a transmission in so im certain all my wiring is still fine.

its gotta be something i shorted when i unplugged the CC module or obc computer. probably something with fuse 5 since my locks are acting up.

then again ive always started it with a battery charger set to start, but its just not enough to get it to crank very long lately, something must be drawing power and fast.

Could just be a failing battery?

Start with the easiest solutions first.

potentially, but with a jumper box would the condition of the battery even matter? its always been started with one. i havent had a belt on the motor yet so its always been started and kept running just with a jumper

Yes. If a battery is completely dead a alone jumper might not be suffecient enough to start or run the car.

Especially if its one of those portable jumper boxes. They are known to have poor CCA and voltage consistancy.
