Purists be damned this is cool! Wish I had the $. GLWS

300 hp at the wheels seems like a conservative number for an LS1 with an LS6 intake. Either the dyno is off, or something else is. I would think 330 at a minimum. Still, great numbers. I love Jakes builds.
Need to start my build.

It is probably a truck block. Could you provide more info on the motor? What block and headers did you use.
Re: 1988 535 LSx swap by Classic Daily
It's a 5.7 liter LS1 motor.
Even it's an LQ4 (truck block), which is a 6.0 liter, it will put down more than 300 hp at the wheels with an LS6 intake.

It is a 5.7 from a 1999 Camaro. Jake's dyno is a bit of an unknown. It, at the time, had not been calibrated to known values from other dynos. The data we were interested in was the improvement from ls1 to ls6 intake, which was 15-17hp.

How does this car's handling compare to a e28 with oe engine and with the same suspension?

Should be better. Aluminum LS weighs less than an M30, and it's significantly shorter in length and lower in height.

It really depends on the engine mounts construction and how far back, how low, the mounts allow the engine to be positioned. I have seen Jake's builds, and they look great. I have also seen the amount of work that Todd underwent to mount his ls(x) even lower, which involved creating some custom mounts for his front sway bar so he could lower the motor even further than other ls(x) conversions. That is why I was curious to know how this particular setup felt handling vs an oe setup w/ the same suspension.
Re: 1988 535 LSx swap by Classic Daily
I'd have to direct that question elsewhere, as I have only driven this one. My experience is that it drives outstandingly. I had an e46 m3 and I am very pleased with this. Especially with the upgraded suspension components and steering box, I can confidently says it would handle considerably better than with an M30.

Alright, time to get serious about selling things. I have had it out of storage (heated garage) and she is running perfectly. Any questions or requests, please let me know.

Payed all that money for what you wanted, now it's there and you want to sell. I'm thinking the engine swap is only as valuable as the original motor (50% rule). You'll have to price your car based on the condition of the rest of the car assuming it has a m30.azgdds wrote:Alright, time to get serious about selling things. GlWS, I don't see any harm in building a v8 e28.
Re: 1988 535 LSx swap by Classic Daily
I have too many toys. It is just reality that it doesn't get the use it deserves and it doesn't belong sitting in my garage. I have a Jaguar XJR and a Ford Raptor that gets most of my personal seat time and an Explorer for when the family is out and about. Jake builds great cars, this car may not be for the traditionalist, but I can tell you it is way more fun to drive. It is for a person who wants a FUN ClassicDaily. Air conditioning and the noise and power of a small block V8. I am open to offers, but, if you want a car like this built for you, it isn't a short process.

Very nice build, I am sure a lot of money and sweat went in to the project.
I would be interested but can't come close to the asking price.

Very interesting car. Can you comment on why the drive train was swapped from the silver to the black car? Thanks

This forum is probably the wrong venue for this car, I'd try ebay or BAT OP
