Unsecure site warning on log-in

Post by gray635 »

Beamters:

Why am I receiving a "site not secure" message every time I try to log in? Warning of possible hacking attempts by scammers. Is all OK with the site's server?

Thanks,
Mike

Thanks, Mike, we're aware. I'm not the one who could give a better answer to you, so hopefully Justin will chime in.

Hi, Sean! Thanks for the response. Hope the tech wizards around here can get this sorted.

Hope that I will see you at Vintage and that you are well.

Thanks, Mike! I am well, but unfortunately will not be at Vintage this year. You snooze, you lose (and I have alternate competing activities).

It's because the certificate of the mye28 Web server has expired. Here's the current certificate data:

Code: Select all

Issued To
 Common Name (CN): mye28.com
 Organization (O): <Not Part Of Certificate>
Organizational Unit (OU): <Not Part Of Certificate>
Issued By
 Common Name (CN): R3
 Organization (O): Let's Encrypt
Organizational Unit (OU): <Not Part Of Certificate>
Validity Period
Issued On: Sunday, January 7, 2024 at 4:40:08 AM
Expires On: Saturday, April 6, 2024 at 5:40:07 AM
The site administrator must renew the Let's Encrypt certificate. It's free.
I also use Let's Encrypt, and the certificates are valid for 3 months only. Therefore, it is a good idea to automate the renewal process, otherwise every 3 months it will be the same trouble.

If mye28.com runs on a Linux server, then here are some hints:
https://www.server-world.info/en/note?o ... &p=ssl&f=2

But for sure, the mye28.com site administrator knows better.

Just a FYI -

The only way I’m able to access the forum is through my iPad. My other computers are refusing me access, saying that it’s not safe for browsing. Still an issue this morning 7/16/2024.

I've been offering to help both with my expertise and money for years.

It appears the beemsters don't care and are willing to let this amazing resource die.

More extensive discussion is here: https://www.mye28.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=161576

Locking this discussion because: 1) we don't need two on the same subject, and 2) it seems that some folks in each discussion are unaware of the other discussion and I'm not going to keep responding in both.
