87 535is. "The Colonel"

Post by Dale3783 »

Finally made it to the shop after a month of waiting. First time I've driven it other than around the parking lot in which I bought it. Brought back some awesome memories of my first e28, a 84' 528e that was my first car. When she emerges in the spring, she'll have euro bumpers, headlights, grills, and a new interior. Can't wait to start wrenching.

Off she goes to Redline Restorations for some shiny new paint. I don't know if I've ever been this excited.

Yay, primer! That's always a good feeling.

What primer are you using?

I have no idea. The restoration shop that is doing the paint and body work fro me, Redline Restorations in Bridgeport, CT is pretty well known in the classic Ferrari restroration world, so I'm sure it's the good stuff? Haha.

How long can you let that cure? I hear you should let it cure as long as a month or two for the ultimate finish- the primer will shrink as it cures. Not a body shop dude but just throwing it out there. It seems to be just chilling In a warehouse.

Nice work! Stoked for the results

They bake it overnight and then he said they let it sit about a week before they start blocking it.

It's amazing and the nicest painted object I've ever owned. And that's before they wet sand it. Beyond extatic.
