H-Turbo M30 Mega Squirt coming soon

Post by carnutdallas »

I might be showing this too soon, but owe 100% to Mike Holtmeier for building a supreme 535iS Project that is a complete and utter work of art. Stunning in. Execution. Still have Dyno and street tuning to do. A write up and additional photos to follow.

She Lives! Low boost for break in right now. Need to do another oil change and schedule some dyno time. Drives great!

Can you tell/show more about the crankcase vent setup? Looks like a sweet setup, where does it drain back to?

Little end of summer update. Engine runs ice cold coolant temps, but we know we have some high egt’s. I wrapped the down pipe today, repaired some vacuum hoses, built a heat shield and did some clean up.

Mike needs to chime in on the recovery set up for oil crank case vent. It is a big MAN filter system, I believe, just for that purpose. Maybe these pics will show you the routing. I inspect it every few weeks. Just unscrew it and pull filter out. Clean as a bone. This engine has been very well done by Holtmeier. Been having some tuning issues, but I can change boost through the Innovate Wide band controller and it has been receiving bad data due to some banjo bolt issues and cracked vac hoses. Hopefully the new shielding helps that.Image

ICE COLD AC! Rotary compressor, with the fancy purpose built bracket. I forget who builds it? I apologize for not knowing that. Have a modern cross flow condenser. Intercooler is across the front of the car behind the S Spoiler. Fits like a glove. Biggest we could find and put in there. Not sure of size, but 4 inches plus thick and at least 30-32" across. Might have pics somewhere?? Found one before install with exhaust before coating>

Looks like a t4? What turbo are you using, and when do you see boost?

Comp Turbo, TO4e, 60mm compressor, P trim turbine with .58ar exhaust housing. Coming on at 3200 range, boosting hard and building by 3800 up to redline. Just starting to dial it in. Running 12.8 psi of boost, but Innovate allows some gain control as well as waste gate duty cycle overage, peaking at 13.9. Had a brief vac hose issue and saw 23.9 once 😳. Want to keep it in the 17 range. But making sure we keep fuel in it and AFR below 12.5.

I have a lot to learn. Mike built the car and does not want to hold my hand forever. Enjoying the experience.

That’s the coolest expansion tank I’ve seen.

Awesome build!
Do you have pics of how the ICV is routed? I can't see it in your pics, thinking it might be below the intake

I am running that GM Throttle body and it is electric and mounted below - Screwed into the base, pulling vacuum signal from internal of the body. This is similar to the unit I am using:Image

Hey guys! We just put bigger injectors in this and tossed the Innovate Boost controller to let the MS3x control the 'gate. There *should* be a dyno day on this soon.

To answer your question, athayer, the crankcase vent is a Mann-Hummel Pro-Vent 200. I've used this a few builds and they work great. There's a venturi built into the air filter tube just before the compressor wheel to help with evacuation, however, this system does not pull a vacuum on the engine. It sure beats an open crankcase or catch can.
