Jim: When I was buying mine from Mark Weber in Denver, he made mention of an Alpine M535 somewhere there in Denver. Not sure if he was talking about yours or this other mystery car.
It would be nice to track them down just so we can keep a record of these things.
(Nice car BTW  )

It got runner-up in the BavAuto contest (which I didn't enter this year because it's rigged) last year. It's a nice car.

There's a couple more here in Phoenix that aren't mentioned.

There's Duke's old car, a Lachssilber/schwarz car and a white/cardinal car.

Chris: Any chance of getting those two cars on this sticky? They sound interesting.

I guess that begs the question whether this thread is reserved for just the E28 M535i or should it be open to the E12's?

Being that Chris might be the only one here with the E12 model (and two of them to boot), I'll leave that to Chris himself along with the other E28 owners posted here to decide.

(Although you might have just answered that question:)

not chris's car?

Post by hubble1953 »

I don't think Chris meant his cars???? I could be wrong:). As far as I am concerned, I don't care if people post the m535i e12. It would be nice to know where they are also.....
But that is up to the people that own them.

I am checking out one more e28 M535i this week here in my town:).

Sorry. Posted earlier from my phone.

Duke's car is on the registry under Collectible Machine Trading. The silver one is owned by someone that doesn't do the forum thing, so he's not a member here and I don't know all the specifics on his car. Like mine, it was a local AZ car since the beginning, though.

The white/red one I've only heard about with a rumor that it might someday be for sale. One-owner car. I have no idea who the people are and have no info on the car other than it's white/red.

There are definitely other cars belonging to members of this forum that aren't listed.

Mike K. has grahamular's car.
Rickbriggsm3 has one in SD - very nice car: http://www.mye28.com/viewtopic.php?t=83971
E28makaveli has an Arktisblau car that was FS recently
Don't know what happened to the lachssilber car go4carter had.

As for the E12 M535i, I don't think they'd belong here since this is myE28.com. There are four members here that I know of with E12 M535s.

Okay, it's decided then: this thread is for the E28 M535i only.
Perhaps Chris, if you're inclined, you can start another one specific to the E12 (if you want).

John: Maybe you should edit the post to label it as "E28 M535i Locations & Info" just to keep it straight.

Good point Chris: maybe the e12 people can set up a thread, or something. They, the e12 m535i, are very interesting and nice cars.

Oz,

Your car may be the first M535i I've seen that does not have an M-Tech kit and rear decklid spoiler. Was that a factory option for Australia?

PS: Beautiful car :alright:

The car has an interesting early history.

It was a "demonstrator vehicle" for the local BMW dealership. All the M30 3.5 litre models available for sale were automatics. The buyer wanted a manual but didn't like the body kit and agreed to buy the demonstrator on the proviso that they remove all of the external Mtech body trim so the car looked like a 'standard' 535i. They charged him just over $3000.00. He kept the car until 2007 when he was appointed as a District Court judge. One of the "perks" was a chauffeur driven car so the BMW was no longer required. I bought it from him. It had a complete dealer service history..no expense was spared to keep the car running like new. The records show he even took the car to the dealer for a puncture repair!

The first thing I did was remove the 535i from the trunk and replace it with the 'M' badge. I then brought and put a Mtech trunk spoiler on the car. I have subsequentely sourced the full Mtech body kit and am currently in the process of returning the car to it's former glory.

Oz,

That's great history on your car. It seems less and less common that you get previous owner's history with these cars, but it adds so much to know the back story.

Congrats to you for putting in the effort to return it to its original form!

My old car. Sorry to see it go :bawl: but I know it's in good hands now. I purchased it from TT in Phoenix in 2006.

I called my buddy who works at a shop that has a Car Bench Jig System Frame Machine and am hopefully going to take it over on Monday to see the $$$$ damage.

The Old shop where TT worked at still has the "Other" M535i in the back lot, next to a E9. ArkicBlau as well.

Thanks! I've had it for almost a year now but still finishing up a couple boat projects. Anxious to get started and bring this beauty back to life!
