water in back seats

Post by eastside_m5 »

I'm getting water on the floor behind the front seats when it rains. On both sides. Any ideas where the water could be coming in from? Seems like a recent occurrence and the fact it ends up on both sides has me confused

Could be any or all of the following:

Sunroof drains that exit via the C-pillar
rear light seals,
boot seal
C-pillar grommets

It might just be sunroof alignment. If it's adjusted too low in back, it will let enough water in to puddle up in the rear footwells. I'm not quite sure how it gets there, but it does. The seal isn't really a full seal, water gets thru, but the drainage system can't deal with much water. Some, but not much. Spec is the sunroof panel should be 1MM higher in back than the roof.

pulled off the covers (c pillars?) on the outside of the car and they were packed with leaves, so cleaned them up. almost stopped it, but the grommets holding them on the car need to be replaced. Anyone have a part number for those grommets. I can't find them on realoem.

Grommets should be item #4 on this diagram.

This thread contains another forum members recent experiences with fitting C-pillar grommet's x 2 (item 4) and inserts x 8 (item 5).
