Converting US Spec M5 to Euro spec suspension

Post by lenaxia »

Hey all,

My suspension is tired and needs to be replaced. I am looking at making the switch to euro spec so I can get mildly improved performance and nearly the same ride height. I've dug through a lot of the forums, and have been looking at several threads and I think I have all the parts I need but would like a sanity check before I order everything.

This was my primary resource (among many other threads): viewtopic.php?p=1017614#p1017614
I decided to go for the pre-2/1986 Bilstein setup as opposed to the post-10/86 Boge setup.

Is there anything missing from this in order to make a conversion from SLS to non-SLS and US to Euro?

2x 31322225016 front strut (Bilstein BMW M5 struts)
2x 31332225115 front coil (These are the stock euro-spec M5 springs)

2x 33521129241 rear strut (Bilstein BMW M5 struts)
2x 33531125315 rear coil (These are the stock euro-spec M5 springs)

For the Front
2x 31321130025 Threaded ring with external head
2x 31321128548 Rubber boot

For the Rear
2x 33521124507 Rear top spring pad
2x 33521124572 Rear bottom Spring Pad
2x 33521126680 Rear Guide support

2x 33521125649 Supporting cup
2x 33521118480 Washer Gasket

2x 33521117676 Rubber Mounting
2x 33521125651 Universal Joint

4x 07129922436 Self locking hex nut

2x 33521119067 Protection Cap

2x 33521124573 Absorber
2x 33521124575 Protection Tube

Haven’t the M5 springs or struts/shocks been NLA for a while now?

Ivo reports them as available in Europe.

Highly recommend the euro springs. I went with every conceivable combination, only thing that was satisfactory was the euro springs

Are the parts that I listed the same ones you ordered? I mean I already ordered from Ivo, but curious either way.

What all did you need to swap? Anything I'm missing?
