WTB Fresh air "under-hood scoops"

Post by Neil22 »

I have no idea what they're called nor do I have the part numbers. Realoem doesn't show them as part of the hood diagram.

Whatever they're called I need em and possibly what they close with on the firewall side cause what i'm breathing in the cabin certainly isn't fresh air. :?

Edit: I think I may have found the part numbers.

Are they plastic?

If mine are useable I'll ship the pair for $20.

$27 each for new is a great price.

I would not buy or sell these parts used after attempting to remove mine.

When I pulled mine off to replace them I found out that most of one of the edges was rusted/missing so now I cannot install it since the insulation is pinched at the edge with a rubber strip. Bummer!

Did any of you find that new hood vent gaskets were needed when replacing the hood vents? Or were the old ones usable? I'm looking to get new hood vents. Also, where are you finding these for under $30? Thanks.

They show up at $34 each (part numbers 51481904313 & 51481904314) @ getBMWparts.com You will most probably need the seal pieces (part numbers 51231870527 & 51231870528) for $3.61 each. be careful when removing these as there tends to be hidden rust (that edge on my hood was almost gone on one of the sides!).

You will also need 4 expanding rivets to hold them in place...

Those are the ones you cant remove when you take off the insulating pieces

Anybody know where we can source these? Have had a hunt around in Australia without much luck.

What did they sting you?
I'd of thought W&N or ECS might have carried them?
