FS: WOW!!! ZF4HP22EH For Sale with all other Auto Box Parts

Hello fellow forum members and martyrs,

I have finally completed my 5-spd swap into my '88 535i. And to all those interested, yes it was worth it. Even the part where I was negotiating with my son to help me....unsuccessfully by the way. And as an aside, that 8-hour timeframe they talk about on the u tube is a lie. I can assure you.

Which of course means, I now have the ZF 4HP22EH as a wonderful addition to my increasing collection of e28 parts. Yep, the EH version: the cool selector switch one so that you can squeeze that extra non-existent amount of power and ensuing rush of speed switching from "E" to "S."

Previously rebuilt and functioning well before removal. It has an oh-so-slight punchy shift from 1st to second or second to third, I cannot remember now that I am totally enamoured with my 5-spd.

The entire unit and all its accoutrements (all the other odds and ends bits and pieces from the swap) are in my garage in a highly protective box that I purchased from Lowes or Home Depot Motorsports Division...I can't remember which. Yes, it's all included in this oh-so-special deal about which you will read below.

The box is taking up space in my garage, and although it is quite lovely to look at and occasionally trip over, my wife is telling me it has to go..she said something about it taking up too much space or just looking weird all alone in the corner...I don't know.

I will offer this box of ZF goodness to the very next person wanting to do a 5-spd to auto box conversion (because we all know how popular a swap that is), or needing to replace their broken auto box for the low, low price of $300 plus shipping.

Bear in mind, it weighs about 674 pounds total...at least that is what it felt like when I wrestled it out from under the car after my Harbor Freight jack tipped over and almost crushed my face. That was fun. So, shipping it should be extra fun too. You can always swing by my place in Jacksonville, Florida and pick it up. It'll be fun, we can swap war stories and tell lies about how perfect our e28's run all the time just like Hondas.

If you are genuinely interested and want a picture of the box and all the bibs and bobs, let me know...I will comply.

The shift smoothness might be simply an adjustment at the tps, those 4hp22eh units seem to be quite reliable overall. I had a little funny shifting once and adjusting the tps solved it.

OK, after much debate and negotiating with myself, I have decided to lower the price of my box of ZF transmission and its other automatic transmission parts...

$200. Yep - come get it.

After much thought; meaning talking with my wife…I have decided to reduce the price of this whole affair to $100 + shipping.

Incredible deal.

At this price, anyone on this Forum should buy it and stick it on their wall as wall art. Or, you could most economically finally do that 5-spd to Automatic conversion you have been talking about with your cars and coffee cronies. It will be sweet.

Hey I'm interested. Is this the same transmission as in the e23 735i auto? I have S - E - 123 shift gear already, so I think it's the identical transmission. Located in Kansas City. Should I text/call the number in your signature?
