WTB: 16" 5x120 BBS weaves or similar

Post by HeavyThirty »

Looking for 16x7.5 BBS weaves (e30 m3/e28 m5) or Mahles.

Can be rough shape, as long as straight. There's a set for $499 on eBay but he also wants $1000 for shipping across the pond - which is a non starter.

Open to other 16" wheels perhaps.

I have 3 (three) BBS RA Mahles 16x7 et11 for 100/each plus shipping.

I don't have a 4th wheel and some disclosure is required prior to sale.

They are stripped to bare metal.

You'd have to find a fourth.

The disclosure is - I did try to lathe the lips and 2/3 are a bit thinner on the lips than the other due to that. I'd bet they're plenty safe, just want to sell them basically as trunk spares.

But hey. Ya never know. I did sell 1 in a set of 5 total for a trunk spare.

If you've not considered them already, don't overlook the 16x7 Style 29 from the E39 5-series. They're generally cheap, even the hubcaps aren't expensive, and they fit perfectly with a 20mm offset as long as you include about ten-bucks worth of aluminum spacer rings. I've used these for decades on E28s and currently have two 535i's with them. I doubt I've paid over $200 for each set of four I've purchased. Most think it only fits an E39 but that's helpful for keeping the price down for the rest of us.

Check out what alpinass has available. Looks like he has a set of Style 29s which would be my suggestion too.

How about these?

16x8 ET16 front and ET0 rear, originally for a TransAm GTA, but I machined them to fit an E28 (machined center bore and lug seats), although you will have to roll your rear fenders pretty aggressively for them to fit. I will be selling them at some point as I have acquired 16x10 BBS RS that I will replace these with.

I like them - but the aggressive fender roll is probably a non starter for me unfortunately

Lots to choose from. I didn’t think Style 29s were so common. I paid $400 for a minty set that I’m holding in storage for a possible future E28. They’re great looking wheels for these cars, perfect for a nice daily driver.

E39 owners all wanted the Sports Package 17s, especially the later 2-piece modular open-lug design, and simply left the Style 29s sitting around, forgotten. My favorite for the E28 always was the 15-inch BBS from the E34 which have always been plentiful. Now both my E28s have Style 29 16-inch. And now I've laid away a large stock of 17-inch Style 42, which came on my E39 but you can never have too many sets!

I'm in the camp of paying a fair amount for the BBS weaves - or finding a dirt cheap set of 16" wheels locally without the hassle of shipping. So far, no luck.

However - if anyone's in the camp, I've got a set of rebuilt RS211 wheels that I'd give up towards a set of 16" weaves :)

You're saying you have a set of RS211S for sale? Are they 17s?

211s are 16", 212 are 17".

Before I get a flurry of PMs asking how much, they're rebuilt, include a 5th rebuilt spare and are also $5k.

Consider E39 Style 5 wheels as well.

They are 16x8 ET23.
Only caveat is the 74.1mm centerbore, but a set of aluminum adapter rings can be had on Amazon for $20.

Here is my set (lowered suspension + wheel spacers):
