Dealer can get em for under a buck a pop plus matrix pricing. You have a local dealer that you can use? Shipping is getting spendy.

They're out of production according to the two dealers and 2 shops I've talked with.

You sure you have the right part #? The one you list is for an E24 & E23, not an E28 (unless you're looking for the E24/23 part?)
The one for an E28 is 51471877688; part #6 here:https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showpa ... Id=51_1707

And according to all online sources, including BMW dealerships, both parts are still available (albeit the E28 part is a lot more expensive).

Thought those were the ones, but it looks like the M5 used the same clip/locks as the M6 for certain panels. These are for the medical kit trunk panel. I'm guessing they went with the twist lock since you would need to make it easy to pull the panel and access the jack and wheel chock.

Not according to RealOEM (but it has known to have been wrong), the only one shared between the M5 and M6 is the one for the battery box:51711916197
Only on the M5 they used it for both the battery box and that side compartment.

That side panel lock you posted is common for all E24's and E23's.

You weren't specific in what car this part you're looking for is going into.
