Tire size for staggered Alpina wheels

Post by Nathan »

Hello - I have read a hundred threads about tire sizes.

I have 7x16 (ET11)) and 8x16 (ET24) staggered Alpinas.

One set up would be 205/55/16 Front and 225/50/16 Rear. From what I have read it seems this was the original Alpina set up.

My question is:
Will 225/50/16 front and 245/45/16 rear work on my 535i and is there a sound reason to go up in tire size?

Thank you.

There is barely any room in the left rear wheelwell, even after rolling the lip, for the 225 tire. Hopefully others with different experiences will chime in!

I have staggered 16" Hartges and have 225's and 245's on my M5.
My car is NOT lowered.

Is the M5 body configuration ie tire well shape, any different than my 535i? If not, it seams 245's would work on the rears.

The M5 wheel well is no different, but the fender lips are slightly trimmed.

Take a look at the link in my signature for answers to the tire size question and trimming the fender lips.
