Anyone have a good source for guibo hardware for an m30 powered car?
IE has a kit for m20 powered cars for only $13 but nothing for m30 stuff. 3 of my guibo bolts have the heads rounded off pretty bad so they will need to be replaced, but I thought I might as well replace everything.
OEM BMW stuff adds up quick - https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showpa ... Id=26_0121
M12 x 60mm Bolt (26111225754) - $12.75 x 3 = $38.25
M12 x 56mm Bolt (27101220647) - $7.25 x $21.75
Locking Nuts (07129900047) - $2.00 x 6 = $12.00
$72 for 6 bolts and 6 nuts is un-cool.
Im assuming the longer 60mm bolts are to account for the vibration dampener thing which my car doesn't have. So I could save a little bit if I can get away with 56mm x 6 but still....

south26 should have used pulls but you can post a wtb thread in the parts forum and see what turns up.

As long as you have the proper size and grade bolt, I don't think it matters where you get it. Home Depot lists M12 x 60 grade 8.8 bolts for $2.77/each.
Grade 8.8 is roughly equivalent to grade 5 in Imperial bolts; I don't know if that's adequate for a guibo so you'd need to research that - you may have to look for a grade 10.9. There's a page at the Home Depot website that explains the strength ratings for the different grade bolts. https://www.homedepot.com/c/ab/grades-o ... 0189731df8

BelMetric is my go-to source for most hardware these days. They'll have what you need and their prices are reasonable.
Re: Replacement Guibo Hardare - M30 Car
I read somewhere that replacements should be grade 10 which makes things more expensive and difficult to find in the correct sizes. But maybe grade 10 is overkill?stuartinmn wrote: ↑Oct 12, 2021 5:01 PM As long as you have the proper size and grade bolt, I don't think it matters where you get it. Going back to Home Depot, they show a pack of ten M12 x 60 grade 10.9 bolts for $43.81, so that's $4.38/bolt.

Re: Replacement Guibo Hardare - M30 Car
depending on particulars McMaster-Carr has them for around 10 bucks for a pack of 5 or 10. I suspect the hardware from McMaster is a little better quality, and they certainly have more options.
Check the grade on the originals too, they're quite likely something a little tougher than 8.8.

Given the profile of the bolt (unthreaded for most of the length), I wouldn't use anything that isn't OE or mirrors OE closely.

Re: Replacement Guibo Hardare - M30 Car
Good point, I didn't think about that. McMaster-Carr or other places like that may be able to provide the correct configuration, but hardware store bolts are going to be threaded for the entire length.
Re: Replacement Guibo Hardare - M30 Car
In the past I've gotten bolts that were too long to get the correct unthreaded portion, then cut the threaded part down to length as needed. Not quite as clean as a specialty bolt but sometimes there isn't a source for exactly what you want.
