e46 seats in an e24

Post by kevinf2p »

So i recently bought a 635csi but Ive been looking to change the crappy comfort seats for something better. Every mainstream option I've come across is a little out of my price range but Ive noticed e46 front seats are very affordable. Any idea how I could swap them? if they would even fit? All help appreciated! :)

I'm assuming you're referring to coupe seats of course to retain access to that spacious back seat.

I'm sure they can be installed, how difficult I don't know. Since E36 and E46 are so similar, I'd start searching on that and see if you run across someone putting in E36 seats, Vaders are popular I believe. If they're power it might get a little tricky, since due to the age of E46s, or lack thereof, it probably runs thru a body control module or the like. Now I believe the seat motors would use 12V, but the seat switches probably aren't capable of handling the current, so you may have to reuse E28 seat control module and do some custom wiring.
