E28 Seat switch Pin out Data

Post by e38740imd »

Good evening guys.

I have a pair of e28 seat switches. And was wondering if 2 things.

1. Does the switch have a power and ground input on the switch?

2. If yes to the question above. Whats the pinout info. Using these switch to control E60 m5 seats in a E34. And need this info to complete this mini project

The seat controller has the 12v and ground not the seat switch. The seat switch sends the output from a switch button to the controller which controls the corresponding seat motor.

Would adding 12v and ground to the E60 seat make it work with it's existing seat switch or does it only work with a k-bus signal?

Hey Jim!

I found that out last night. So I will be using a Dpdt switch to work the seat motors

I was able to get the all the motors to move on my test bench at home. K-bus data lines is not required to move the seat but require to use the factory controls on the seat.

I will be tearing out the internals and add 5 switches per seat. The seat has 7 functions but I won't be adjusting 2 of them. I.e headrest etc

This is honestly the best way to control the seat for the e28/e34. Imo. Or any car rather. I post later on the day on what to do. I'm just waiting for my switches from Amazon

I think if you use the e28 seat switch and the controller to control the motors that should work.

Hope you figure out you no start issue.

Also the e34 seat switch doesn't need a controller, just the seat switch to work. Might be a better option.
