061 ECU Chips
Re: 061 ECU Chips
I'm not sure you really want a chip in a 10:1 engine. Search a bit, but it seems like I hear of guys with stock chips having trouble with pinging and chips mostly crank in more ignition advance.

Re: 061 ECU Chips
I just had my E24 rebuilt with a Hartge B35 head
and JE forged 10:1 pistons. Tuner tells me that
my 059 ecu won't handle extra needed info from
O2 sensor-I'll have to go with stand alone.

Re: 061 ECU Chips
I don't know if there is much in the way of HP that was left in the tuning options for the 061 ECU. Seems BMW got almost as much as they could. Not gonna get any 18-20 or whatever they claim. That is increased compression amounts of gain or full Alpina/Hartge build of the stock € motor.

These guys make chips for stock engine and for ones with the Alpina B10 cam. Assuming its a clone of the original B10 chip.
I'll give an update, putting their B10 chip with a Schrick cam in my car.

You are playing with fire running a 10:1 engine with aftermarket maps and no O2 monitoring...sounds like a recipe for disaster to me. Fixed map and no way for engine management to know if it goes lean...

I'll have a wideband hooked up so I can see my engine lean out and melt my piston from the comfort of the driver seat.SlickDizzy wrote:You are playing with fire running a 10:1 engine with aftermarket maps and no O2 monitoring...sounds like a recipe for disaster to me. This whole 061 thing is merely for my own curiosity. I can always get 28 pin and WAR, but want to see if this is possible.

Update...
The Alpina B10 chip was fine from Fritz, in terms of AFRS. However it did have too much ignition advance I guess we have for the gas here. Didn't blow my engine up, but advanced the timing past where my engine made max power. So I'd only use his B10 chip with the only withappropriate cam that he also sells. Don't use it with a Schrick 284.
Ignore the rattling shifter.
