Bump for a reminder again.

Please don't respond to spammers and double-please don't quote their link-containing messages. In many case they're trying to increase their web presence by getting their name and URL out in as many places as possible. Quoting these types of posts only helps the spammer.

Thanks.

OK, we just had two folks respond to a spammer who put ten messages on the board:

Don't respond in any manner -- no sarcastic comments, no salutations about how the spammer will be gone or should leave. DO NOT RESPOND!

Wild thought here & probably a question for Jeremy... Is there any (easy) way to put this type of alert into a splash screen that pops up immediately upon login? Maybe set the frequency to 3 logins & it goes away after that? Just thinking aloud here.

Such a message would be more annoying than useful I think. Someday I'll actually write a formal TOS agreement for this site.

It'd be a extremely rare occurrence, but it could also be used for any other critical information.

TOS could be handy & quite useful when enforcement is necessary.

Yet another reminder:
twin55 wrote:1. Do you own or drive a BMW?, if so, what year model?
2. I guess this is not the only forum you join just to sell communication devices.
3. Are you a virus? if not, don't be a moron. :alright:
4. Btw, this is you first post without an introduction...we don't kiss on the first date. And definitely do not expect to get Wiggly Willy neither.

Really, guys. We get the spammers off as quickly as possible. It's impossible to monitor the board 24/7. Just leave them alone, they'll disappear in a short amount of time.

question for the Beamters: does the phpBB forum software have a 'Report' function available? Other forums I frequent have that feature, which makes it simple for the members to flag spam posts (having said that, there are always people who feel the need to type a response anyway.)

Actually when I posted the thread was right below this (I think Brad took care of that one.) It was just a coincidence that a completely different spammer posted in a different section just a short time later.

Weren't we all. As I approach my third score birthday, I find that drinking from quality wine glasses is a very high priority in my life. Almost as high as color coordinated socks and underwear.
