Looking for ideas and inspiration for my door card upholstery.

Post by szacsi72 »

Hi guys,

My door cards are faded and don't match my interior, so I'm looking to get it redone. My car is zinnoberrot, and my interior is black/grey with some minor red elements; therefore, I want black leather with red stitching. I will also paint the carpet material black from antrachit.

However, I'm not sure where the stitching should go!
I definitely want it to go around, like on an M535 perforated version... but don't know where else. Don't want too much or too little.
I will also ask for a bit of foam, to make the stitching pop more.

Maybeee something like this..

Let me know guys! Also happy too see pictures, if anybody has some!
Thanks!

Looks good, but doesnt quite fit my liking. I'm not sure. I like the Golf GTI style red and gray version, but it may be too much..?

I was tempted to buy some stuff for my E46 from this outfit but I need to invest elsewhere first.

Ladies and gents!

I think I've found it!
I was scrolling on the web and found this VW Passat GLX in Hungary. The interior is just awesome. Let me show you:

I'm in love. This is exactly what I had in mind. Black leather and red tartan cloth combination, with red seatbelts. I think I'd also do the door trim in tartan.. not sure. Maybe that's too much. We will see. I've contacted the guy in hopes to get this exact cloth they've used.

Here are some more pictures of interiors that I really like.

So far, here's the 3 options that I've come up with:
  • 1. Black interior with red-white tartan cloth, semi-leather, red stitching on some places, red seatbelts.
I really like the GTi and 20 Jahre Patterns.

  • 2. Grey interior, with black leather "quarter" (like semi-leather, but only on the sides like some original E28s). Grey stiching on most places, some red accents and red seatbelts.

  • 3. Two-tone brown interior. The dashboard's line and up would be fully black, below everything deep brown or chocolate brown. Semi-leather, the cloth could be a but lighter brown. Possible some nice recaro material? No red accents here, doesn't match the brown. Much like the second picture, but with a different cloth.
