E28 M5 - Fabricator/Body Work

Post by Supermandjw »

Greetings,

I recently purchased a 190k mile M5 that has a sufficient amount of rust in the common areas (rockers, under wipers, doors, etc.) I’m looking for a shop that is very familiar with the e28 in the Maryland/DC area. Was curious if anyone is familiar with a shop they could share?

I bought a Triumph Stag from a guy north of Baltimore (Forrest Hill) and i had a Mark Raspi or Raspi's British Imports do the PPI. His shop was amazing and even though he restored British cars, his personal passion was BMW 2002 and he had several where he was completing frame off restorations with full body work (bodies were on racks/rotisseries as he welded in new panels). I know this isnt a direct fit for what you are asking for but it is hard to find a true restoration shop any more and if I lived up there, I would be a customer of his.

The only other suggestion I have is to call Grant at Alexandrian Bavarian Service. He is an exceptional mechanic and also a E28 owner. He may have a suggestion.

Reach out to Stephane at Excluservice in Rockville - they might have a suggestion. https://www.bmwexcluservice.com/
D&V Autobody Masters off 606 west of Dulles is a premier shop in our area - they might be able to do the work or Kevin could provide an alternative.

Good luck!

I am in the DMV with a similar situation. Let's compare notes if you have a minute.

Did you buy that one from Chicago?
Congrats. I almost jumped on that.
