AC Solutions air conditioner upgrade

Post by Etip »

Hi,
Who's done the AC Solutions r134 AC update? How long has it taken you to do (I'm a home garage)? I have an M5.
Were you happy with the AC's performance?
My AC is/has been non working for quite some time.
Thanks for any info or insight.

by myself in my single car garage I did it in probably 3-4 hours on my 535is. while not being able to speak on the differences of the install on the m5, its pretty easy and straight forward. some of the lines will require larger wrenches but I made due with various adjustable wrenches.

the owner of AC solutions is a member here and has based his company on the kit he developed for his own m5. Austin is a nice guy and would be happy to answer any concerns you may have.

An alternative is from the original designer of the bracket.

Layne's bracket is a bit beefier and his
E30 kit comes with a better compressor,
as I understand it.

Good luck with your project.

Is Layne's E30 bracket & kit plug and play on E28?

Hey @Etip! Just jumping in here as the owner of A/C Solutions - typical install time for the E28 (all models) is around 4 hours from evac to being ready for R134a, but it will certainly depend on the number of "while you're in there" jobs you want to tackle. In a properly functioning system, typical vent temperatures will range from <40* to 1/2 ambient temp (whichever is higher). Always happy to answer questions, so please don't hesitate to email us @ info@acsolutions.co. We have sold a few hundred E28 (and E24) kits over the past 2 years, and all our components are professionally engineered, designed, and tested to look and function as OEM as possible for a seamless install!
