OMG that is just brilliant! Where in Ohio? I'm a Cleveland - Cols - Cinti guy and my first 3 Bimmers were all from that mix. The first two of them had nearly the same miles on them... in the '90s!!!! What you have there right now is exceptional.

Congrats on the new ride, that 1986 535i sounds like a sweet acquisition! The Delphin metallic over cardinal interior must look amazing. It's awesome that you're taking the time to learn how to maintain and care for the car, and it sounds like you're doing a great job with all the fixes and maintenance you've done so far.
I'm curious, have you taken the car out for any long drives yet? How does it handle on the road? Also, have you thought about car transport prices if you ever need to move across the country? I've heard some good things about certain transport companies, but I guess it depends on where you're located and where you need to transport the car.

Before driving this jewel, go over the brake lines carefully. Where the lines are clipped to the pan accumulates dirt that stays wet and will rot an otherwise good looking line. AMHIK
