does it add value to my 533i if it was made in germany VIN starts with a W

Value would be added by any other country of manufacture as B stands for Bavaria a state in Germany where BMWs were made back then. Now with worldwide production by many different car companies BMWs are made in many countries.

All E28s were made in Dingolfing, I believe, except for some made in South Africa.

I'd expect that any ZA E28s actually built in South Africa were ckd kit cars,
CKD completely knocked down, ready for the factory build. Done to save on taxes or some such thing.
