535is trunk badge measurements

Post by Notaweekend »

hey anyone with a 535is I was wondering if you could do a favor and take a measurement for the space between "535" & "IS"? I'm replacing mine and want to try to get it right lol. let me know!

Can't be correct. BMW doesn't have inch measurements. But it looks good.

Repair manual does not have the is emblem, just the ///M, 524 td, 528 e and 535 i and that is linked in this thread. Just another point of reference:

https://www.mye28.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=123722

The height on the trunk lid matches, 22mm or 3/4" depending on whether you can manage an inch measurement.

Thank you thats very useful. That’s factory?

Also, looks like you’re missing a trunk seal like I am as well ;)

I wonder if there is even a factory spec since the is cars were mostly done by the dealers. :dunno:

Disregard, it seems I stand corrected.

This discussion has the pictures from the factory manuals for e28 and also e30 badge placement: https://www.mye28.com/viewtopic.php?t=138169 Maybe you can extrapolate from what it says for a 325is.

Not sure if this question is directed at me, but if it is, then yes, that was factory. The car still had it's original paint job and no evidence of damage to anything on the rear end.

Those pics are from 2016 or so from a project that's long since done (including the trunk seal replacement) and gone, but I never delete any pics!

Lolz. My measurements were done with a "BMW-factory authorized specialty tool" from ... hold on, let me double-check ... some company called "Stanley"?

There is absolutely no truth to that statement.

yeah i wanted to ask i've just been caught up at work but are you saying that the IS cars were picked up from the port with sport seats and suspension already assembled but had bumper wing and badges in the car to be assembled at the dealer?

also to update on this - i found that after getting painted my "535" badge was placed terribly wrong and I barely have enough space to put on the "IS" badge which means that's nothing like factory. Going to remove and re do both badges. thanks for your help with measurements guys - i can always depend on the forum
