A disclaimer. While my comment below is mine, the thread was broken off a different one, for reasons I don't recall, if I ever knew. I didn't start it.
No help as to where, but if the leather is still there and intact I would think you could get away with a good redye. Truthfully, it's not like new, but a redye with Leatherique goes a long way. This one was decent, but not great before Leatherique. And I'm not that big a fan of theirs even.

This guy was also recommended to me by someone else, for what it's worth. Plan to send my M-Tech off to him in the spring.dcains wrote:This guy does great work, and a Sport wheel will cost you ~$200.

Note that I have been advised both here and elsewhere to avoid Alan Gun/AGLA by all costs. So whoever you end up going with, make sure it's NOT him/them.

There's a guy from the E30 forum (Jordan Greer - https://www.facebook.com/StitchedWheels/?pnref=lhc) that wraps wheels. Saw a FB post by him tonight:

+1 prices are a little higher than leathersteeringwheels but quality is great. I've used Dallas Steering wheel before but wouldn't recommend them.John in VA wrote:There's a guy from the E30 forum (Jordan Greer - https://www.facebook.com/StitchedWheels/?pnref=lhc) that wraps wheels. Any chance you can download & post that pic here? That R3VLimited group is a closed group.John in VA wrote:There's a guy from the E30 forum (Jordan Greer - https://www.facebook.com/StitchedWheels/?pnref=lhc) that wraps wheels. Saw a FB post by him tonight:

Steering Wheel Rewrapping
$189
Canton, MS (39046)
I'm currently taking orders for steering wheel rewrapping if anyone is interested.
The price includes shipping back to you.
I can do 370mm and 385mm mtech 1's and 2's.
For standard thickness it is $189 and I can add padding to thicken up the wheel similar to modern bmw wheels for $219.
You can add a leather boot set for $65 (usually $79)
Allow for 2 weeks turnaround time from the day I receive the wheel.
Shoot me a message or you can email me at sales@stitchedwheels.com

Re: Sport steering wheel restoration advise needed-
I seem to recall that years ago Alan Gunn was highly recommended...for those of us who haven't been paying attention, what happened in the meantime?
Re: Sport steering wheel restoration advise needed-
Poor quality, poor communications, poor attitude, and poor warranty policy. I had two wheels done at the same time. The seams were crooked, they left a gap at one of the spokes and had a few transient stitches. He gave me grief when I wanted them corrected then charged me for shipping them back. One of the stitches was so bad that I could stick my finger tip in the hole. He never corrected them properly and as I recall I spent $325 per wheel plus shipping.stuartinmn wrote:I seem to recall that years ago Alan Gunn was highly recommended...for those of us who haven't been paying attention, what happened in the meantime?
Re: Sport steering wheel restoration advise needed-
Sorry to dredge up a Zombie thread, but has anyone had anymore recent experience with either Stitchedwheels.com or Leatherwheels.com?
I'm down to these two and have had good communication with both trying to figure out where to send my M-Tech I wheel for refinishing (and also a parking brake handle cover).
Stitchedwheels is more expensive, but both seem to be highly recommended.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Sport steering wheel restoration advise needed-
I've had Chris @ Leatherwheels do a couple of wheels and shift knobs for me. Great service, quality and fast turnaround if that helps. He'll also do custom stitching, work if needed.vinceg101 wrote: ↑Jul 28, 2021 5:33 PM Sorry to dredge up a Zombie thread, but has anyone had anymore recent experience with either Stitchedwheels.com or Leatherwheels.com?

It sounds like I can't go wrong with either one, but Chris gave me a quicker turnaround time which is becoming more and more critical.
This helps.

Re: Sport steering wheel restoration advise needed-
^^^^ Same here - steering wheel and shift knobs. Highly recommended and would definitely use Chris again.
