FS: Project 533i

Post by OilBurner524TD »

**Update 12/24/20**
I've caught the air cooled fever and would be willing to trade for a 1972 or older Bug. Non running or running is fine. I'm wanting to teach my GF the basics of cars and how to drive a manual. The e28 is a bit too complex for an introduction to vehicular theory.

Up for sale in a strange, surprising, and unprecedented moment of clarity is my new to me 1984 Bronzit over Beige 533i. I know; the most boring color combo, but don't worry it comes with a lovely patina to help off set the mundane color scheme. Over all the car is all there but just needs more than I am willing to put into it. I just acquired a Canadian market 1984 524td and want to focus my time/energy/wallet on that car. I bought the car a month ago, but only today realized that I need another car like I need a hole in my head.

Pros:
Runs!
Stops!
Shifts!
The cluster sorta works.
I've driven it around my neighborhood quite a few times with no problems
All the adjustments INCLUDING the headrest work on the front seats.
AC is retrofitted to R-134a, holds pressure and seems to blow cold but AUX fan doesn't engage.
No leaks
Fresh expansion tank
Passed Smog 7 years ago before sitting.
Was owned by a BMW mechanic from 1991-2013
-Found registration and parts receipts dating back to then.
Central locking system some how works all the way around
Braided steel brake lines
Sweet rims
Sunroof operational
All OBC functions work
Clean title in my name

Cons:
Original stereo/instrument cluster had a bad parasitic drain so I removed them
-The original cluster will come with the car
280k on non working ODO, last smog check in 2013 showed 281k
Has been parked for 7+ years
Check control panel non operational
Old tires on nice rims
Non working heater blower
Wiper armature needs lubing
Rust in the truck around the seal, none of it goes through but the residual moisture rusted the full and COMPLETE tool kit.
Awful color combo

All in all, it doesn't over heat, doesn't pull in one direction or another and has a clean title. It seems like a decent car but I just really don't have the time for it and hope someone can bring it back to its former glory.

I feel like $2,500 is a fair price but I am willing negotiate.

If the price is off please PM me and tell me I'm a fool.

You should post the vin as the car doesn't present as a 533i.
Power seats weren't an option on 533i cars, and the under hood insulation was a 528e thing.
