I saw the listing on BaT last night and then realized it was the car from this thread. I'm by no means an expert having only been in the E28 game for a little over two years, but I have spent considerable time combing through just about every past 535is listing on BaT and I don't see a mid $20k car here. This is a pretty rare and striking color combination however. For comparison, there was one other very clean, much lower mileage (<100k) Alpine over Llama 535is that sold on BaT back in July 2018 for just under $17k and that seems about right given the condition and mileage of that car. Looking through the pictures of your old car, I would say it has been very well cared for over the years and has been left mostly original. It looks to me like a solid $15k car based on BaT comps, but like others have said, the market will speak over the next few days.

I'm not trying to speculate on the market or put your car down in any way, but rather inject some hope that if there is a $20k reserve on this car it may very well end in Reserve Not Met. Lovely car, and I do sincerely hope that someday you will own this car again at a fair price!

17k is plenty for that car.

I agree, maybe mid teens for this one. rust repair, probably more due in the future. the carpet is trashed which i dont think was mentioned in the ad, can see how bad it is under the passenger front floor mat.

A friend of mine dropped a blue slurpee in the passenger floorboard. I don't know if anyone was ever able to get it out. Haha destroyed an entire case of CDs that were in the floorboard. Memoriessss.

Oh dang. Just saw the floorboard pic you were referring to. That's definitely not a blue slurpee stain.

I think your offer of $17k to the seller is extremely fair. Are you going to at least get in on the bids at BAT? If you are high bidder at say $12k, it'll send him a message. And you don't have to identify yourself as the person who offered $17k either.

I assume he has some ridiculous reserve on it but you never know. Good luck.

I most likely won't bid on it, as much as I'd like to have the car back. Probably just going to chalk it up as a lost cause. Not that any of you want to hear this, but we just bought a Jetta TDI Sportwagen we have some big plans in store for. Hopefully it will be ready for car show season, if we even have a car show season in 2021.

Hey @vanessa318 - I have one in this exact combo that I might be selling in the new year. If you have any interest down the road, feel free to reach out. On a side note, that TDI should be fun. I had an 03 TDI wagon years ago and it was fun.

Hey! Thank you for reaching out. I may be interested. Definitely post it up here when you're ready to sell. Best of luck to you!

I see that it was bid up to $12,750 on BAT. Is this guy still unwilling to accept your offer?

I haven't spoken to him since he let me know he would be offering it on BaT, about a month ago. I've since then purchased another vehicle, so at the moment, I'm not really in the market anymore. As much as I'd like to have it back, I offered my top dollar on it, and he wouldn't budge. If he believes he can get more than what I offered, more power to him.

Good job sticking to your guns, I think your offer was more than reasonable as well.

This also helps others understand the prices better and brings them closer to reality.
