Thats a great VIN decoder! Can you divulge what website you are using? I can never find any info at all when I try all the websites I know of. :)

Amazing car. Im glad you aren't closer to me. I'd be very tempted and I don't even really like e23s that much. GLWS

Somebody has asked which gearbox this has. Whats the easiest/best way to find out? All I know is it's a 5 speed and not a dogleg.

Thanks.

I was going to say this car should have the 260/5 but an 84 should be a 733? No? http://www.mye28.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=61367
Did Europe get the 735 a year early? :? I'm not up on e23s . And looking at the build date it should really be an 83.

With the help of a very friendly forum member it appears to have a 265 and the engine number is the same as the VIN.

My tranny listings were for US spec cars only. And Europe got 735s in '79 production which was probably 1980 model year. Yes, much earlier than we got them.

If this car was semi local and had a BAR sticker I'd be on it. But it's neither.

I remember this car from 2017 or so....came into the shop and I was fascinated with the aux heater and all the executive stuff. Cool car.

Good luck with the sale! If I was an e23 guy I'd be all over it.

I really doubt it's that unusual of a failure just from setting a while. Many much more likely things or even a simple electrical connection somewhere that is loose or corrosion.

In it's day that would have been the big boss's boss's car.

Must have been when I brought it in to see what it would take to pass inspection as it's the only time I had it at a shop. Reminds me that I forgot to mention I put new front wheel bearings in it.

I've dropped the price for the last time. If I don't get a buyer, I'm going to end up parting it out I guess - which is a shame. I feel the 1500 is more than fair as the engine, transmission and interior ought to be worth $500 each.

I doubt this car has the 260/5, but who knows. My 05/85 Euro 735i with the 8:1 installed at the factory had a big case 3.46:1 and a 265/6...it was everyone's fav colors. Bronzit with lama, about as exciting as my last prostate exam.

If I was not so deep in this 11/84 745i rebuild, I would own this car listed here. It is very neat.

Shoot, I would pick this up if I had a way to get it back to Ohio. Good deal for a 265/6 car. Your buffalo leather interior is in better shape than my 745i.

So, this is still sitting in my driveway. Several people were interested before the virus put a halt to everything. Anyone that was/is interested that is able to come get it or have in shipped in a reasonable amount of time feel free to contact me.

You're welcome!

I've been spying this car since day 1. Motor is perfect candidate for my turbo project. Timing and funds not quite right.
