M21 Charge air tube

Post by Revovelleco »

Hey everyone,
I have an ‘85 524 td and I am looking to egr delete. I have noticed that the euro charge air tubes do not have the egr tube in them and are made out of rubber not metal. I was wondering if anyone has one they would be willing to sell or knows where I could purchase one.

Thank you

I just plugged the vacuum line from the EGR solenoid and left the rest alone. I was afraid to try to mess with the valve down on the manifold, figuring it hasn't been touched in an extremely long time and if those studs break it was not going to be a happy time.

Did you do anything to the charge air tube coming off the turbo or just leave that alone? I have my manifold off already so I am going to fab a block off plate for the solenoid.

Using the stock tube, no changes. Unless you look very closely nobody would ever know the EGR doesn't function.

If you've got the manifold off it makes more sense to properly block it though. If your welding skills are good enough (mine sure aren't) I'd probably consider just cutting the EGR tube off at the air pipe so its gone completely and welding a patch over it.
