Ok here are some pics of the 1987 535is I bought on August 23, 2009. One owner, extensive records, a little tired in the paint and interior areas, as well as being loose in the front end and autotragic. Been in paint shop for 4 weeks. I was only doing some spot repair, but then it got out of hand. Just finished assembly tonight and will work on brakes and lowering springs this week, for the drive to Tex Fest in late October (5-speed conversion donor bought, but no time right now)......here are a few pics and the link to photobucket. Enjoy, I sure do

Looks nice. I would've painted the bumpers black, though.
I coulda' swore it was Jody Goodwill's car!
Have those seats been redone once before? |

| Thanks....bumpers were going black, but I changed my mind and love it. I really liked the BMP kit on my old car or your Euro look is the bomb, but this gives me a modern flare of an old classic. Not many like this, so I wanted to be different. The seats were something I thought up while sitting at my desk. I have never seen them before. My upholstery guy is great!! I like having the ultra-suede when it is so hot in Texas. Thank again. |

Glad you made some progress. Not exactly my taste, but it looks well-executed.
Can I see you drivers license, McLovin? |

I like it! Sweet with the all red look and shadowline. Very unique look for an E28.
Don't listen to wkohler. He's just mad because he didn't think of it himself. Good job. Ted in T.O. |

Jgoodwill part II
The only difference is his wheels are 18" and the metal parts of his bumpers are black. |

| I finally tracked down jgoodwill....really was not an inspiration. His car is nice and definitely similar. I went further on the interior and was going black bumpers and then really thought an M5 should have been red, so I went in that vain. Will never be an M5, but with the fairly low mileage, I may turbo or supercharge it (way down the road). I stared at threads of pics here and on Bimmerforums and went in this direction. Kholer helped with the wheels. Thanks everyone. |

I knew you probably hadn't seen his car. He hasn't posted in a while. I wasn't trying to take anything away from your car. Just pointing similarities. Your car is done well for sure. |

| Sickest E28 I have seen in a long time. Nicely done. I dont like the bumpers color matched either--it removes a lot of the contrast. |

I like the bumper surrounds color matched, BUT, if mine I think I'd try the door and front fender mouldings in black.
To satisfy my curiosity, could someone photoshop that for me?

I have a second set of fairly clean mldgs in black, so if I get bored, I may go back. I doubt I get bored, the car is just gorgeous to me and I am a little biased To each his own, but I have seen some cars on here that are bad ass and all for different reasons. Sherm, if I had photoshop I would do it for you. Would like to see it myself.
I really wish I had a complete write up on the 5-speed conversion. Basically I am going to order a new clutch, slave, mounts, etc and set the cars side by side on lifts and go back and forth. But I know there are some small hurdles and I want to know what to look out for and the little tricks others have solved. I have searched high and low and all of the good links no longer work. Any ideas?
Thanks for all the great comments, opinions. This is a great community of fellow enthusiast! |

Go to www.oo00oo.com.
There should be a link to a 5-speed swap on a 528e. There is also a thread in the archives which expounds on the differences from that procedure to the M30 cars. |
