2002 project car update and new pics
Well, good news and bad news.
First the good news, the car is coming along nicely and looks great. The bad news is that we won't get it finished in time for V@V... unfortunately we need a couple more weeks... all the little details and assembly issues are taking longer than we'd like, and we had some 3rd party delays with custom parts, e.g., half shafts, chroming bumpers, etc.
My (and Mario's) philosophy on this is that we've come this far and have done it right ... so, no short-cuts or "good enoughts". Sorry to disappoint those that were hoping to see the car at V@V next week. On the bright side, I'll be sure to bring it next year to V@V and it will be at O'Fest at the 'Glen this fall.
Here's a few pics from last week:

Roy, I've enjoyed following the progress on your '02. I think it'll be worth waiting another year to see it in person!

It keeps a closer balance to what the M10 had in the car. Also, the S14 just looks more at home int he '02s, rather than stuffing a big S50/52 in, the S14 is a great engine in all ways, I guess you'd just have to drive one to appreciate it. I can't even imagine what would be like in an '02 with all the work Roy is doing, he is basically building my dream S14magicandmischief182 wrote:Just curious, what made you decide on the s14 instead of an s50/s52?
Very nice work tho!!

True, but a v8 would be awesome!1985bmw535i wrote:I think I can speak for RoyW when I say that it keeps a closer balance to what the M10 had in the car. Also, the S14 just looks more at home int he '02s.magicandmischief182 wrote:Just curious, what made you decide on the s14 instead of an s50/s52?

Pretty simple for me... I already had the S14 engine, plus, I wasn't looking to build either a stock '02tii or an '02 with more power than the chassis, suspension, & brakes could handle. The goal was a unique, resto-mod that was, for the most part, all-BMW... and, I wanted to keep the weight and balance close to the original car.magicandmischief182 wrote:Just curious, what made you decide on the s14 instead of an s50/s52?
