2002 Project car - latest pics
Now that all the body & paint work is finished on my '72 2002tii project car, we're on to the assembly phase
Here's a couple of shots of the interior with the sound dampening material that I installed a couple weeks ago.
Followed by shots, taken today, of the start of the assembly process over on the mechanical side of VSR's shop, e.g., sub frames, suspension, brakes, wiring, gas tank, etc..
Hopefully, things will go smoothly (for Mario and team) over the next couple of weeks and we'll be ready for a road test sometime in April I'll post more pictures of progress over the next two weeks.

Any specs on what you're doing by the way? I'd love to hear what is going in this Orange beast...your doing S14 if I recall correctly, right?

Good lord....how much do you think this will cost by the time it's all done?
I'm guessing easily $15K?
John
p.s.: The drivetrain you're doing will be no slouch, but I think if I had this budget, I'd drop a 6 in it.

Yeah, I think the philosophy of Roy's project is a little different than Sayther's chop/cut/rebuild. Sayther's is cool, but in a totally different way. An Alpha-N 2.5L S14 is a 240-hp-plus mill, and in a 2400-lb 2002 that is going to be plenty quick. Besides, Roy has his E30 M3 for track work.muleskinner wrote: http://www.terrysaytherauto.com/Racing/ ... kIntro.htm
Roy, I'm really impressed by the quality of work. Can't wait to see the finished product.

Thanks Tammer... you hit the nail on the head! It's just intended to be a very cool, clean, all BMW, resto-mod cruzin' machine. Not a track car and not a stock restoration... just trying to have something that's somewhat unique, without being too over-the-top.
Of course, it's has sort of evolved from when we started planning and building a couple years ago... and I've unfortunately blown' well past the budget that was originally planned (I'm told that's almost always the case!). So, this will be the last one of these kind of project for me!
My advise would be... buy one that's already done But, it is a lot of fun to plan it out, watch it come to life, and ultimately enjoy owning it (I'm really looking forward to that part )
